Is going “green” to become a passing fad?

After 10 years, people slip back into being wasters? I’m just really curious about this. Will it become old? Is it something people really will continue to think about that much? Have many of you really saved the amount of money to make this all worth while? I sureĀ welcome your input from you all.

no
people will always be envious
After10 years SOME people slip back….but, more people join the cause,so no, going green is not a passing fad.
Probably, it’s what we do best isn’t it? Sad though. I mean, people might have a couple of eco friendly jeans or something but the bulk of their stuff will probably not be that eco friendly.
I don’t its a fad this time….many, many people have relaized the damage that has been done and what we need to prvent further damage. I think people are recycling more, composting more, changing their lightbulbs, riding their bikes more and so on….
No way. As resources like oil become more scarce, people will be forced to become more environmentally conscious whether they like it or not. Particularly if the effects of global warming become more visible, which will likely be the case.
Going “Green” is a complete gimmick like Organic food!
People believe anything they read in the papers. Global warming is also a great myth. Its happened for millions of years. The Sun changes the amount of carbon in the atmosphere daily far more than cars will ever be able to!!!
i hope so, if it’s going to keep getting more & more asinine
We are still a wasteful society. It’s not so much a fad as it is politically correct to claim greenness, which is why it’s not getting any better.
I don’t think so. People also become aware and some good things remain. Taking better care of our resources has become a very real issue.
I think it is all a function of external stimuli. Many people have gotten more environmentally conscience due to the rise in energy costs. For many it is due to the increased awareness of the impacts man has on the environment (namely global warming). If these issues are solved, then the current state of being “green” would be a passing fad. If energy costs remain high and more science backs the notion that man is causing global warming, the concept of going “green” will (at least in my opinion) continue to grow.
Yes and no. It’s been around a long time under different names and guises. Going “off the power grid” has been attractive to a number of people for a variety of reasons. So I doubt it will ever completely go away.
But if the planet goes into a cooling cycle, which is possible, then the “religious fervor” would die down and might well anyway when all the people with ADD find something else to attract their attention.
Don’t know .Just like everything ells only time will tell for sure . If we keep putting all this crap in the air and in the earth the planet will become inhabitable anyway so the end result wouldn’t mean a thing to anyone because there wouldn’t be anyone . Should we take that chance?
I think its time for all of us to pull together and stop thinking about whats in our pockets especially the rich and do something to help out mother earth.
I’m not attacking the rich more power to them they just have more to contribute . We are all going to have to change our way of thinking or we mite as well be walking on the sun.
Honestly, I don’t even know one person who is living green or buying Eco-friendly homes. Everyone I know uses cleaning chemicals or pesticides. I live in a normal home but am becoming more responsible and actually just started recycling and surprisingly, I have almost more recyclables than garbage. I feel guilty for not recycling sooner but I guess it’s better late than never.
They may not slip back into being wasters because if technology changes, we should get permament changes in lifestyle and choices.
But every popular movement tends to be a fad at some level, so yes, the fad aspect will change if only in the sense that people will no longer claim they are “green” to try to make themselves seem superior to others, because everyone will be forced to go green to some extent.
at the rate that we are polluting this world i don’t think we can afford it to be a passing fad. if we don’t start now and continue to seriously clean up this world our great grandchildren won’t have a decent world to live in.
I hope not. I dont feel our earth can handle too much more of our bad habits and waste.
Just like any fad, a lot of people will be on top of it in the beginning, but only the people who truly care will stick with it.
