buy an suv and spray as much ozone depleting chemicals in the air as i can, maybe this will spead things up a bit so it will slap politicians in the face

The first thing we need to do is vote
the oil people out of office.
Much of the current oil profits came
as a result of this administration.
These folks are more concerned with
the bottom line, than clean air or green
    earth, or good water.
Right now, this country really could use
    a “Green Party.”
However, with our 2 party system, it’s
darn near impossible for a third party
    to emerge.
    Unless somehow, the internet supplies
    a grass roots system.

I applaud you for asking this question. You sound like a great soul. Inspiring!!!

To answer your question. Education is key. Many people have no concept of the loss of ecological diversity and natural pristine environments…because they have never been there. Not that we should all be out in the wild tracking our footprints all over, but one needs to realize that the natural world is an incredible and precious place. A precious place to be respected and preserved. If we stopped our busy lives for a moment to be nurtered by the natural world (any green place qualifies) we would likely feel less desire for material fulfillment and consumeristic mindsets would flow into oblivion…there is infinite peace to be had in the natural realms. For those yet to convert to a green and ecologically aware mindset, here are some simple suggestions:
    1) Make a compost pile….start a garden to grow your own vegetables and fruits. If you are not convinced…YOU CAN SAVE MONEY!
Apartment dwellers…start a campaign to have kitchen waste composted by your community services.

    2) REDUCE, RECYCLE and REUSE. This is so important…there is no excuse for not following such simple initiatives. Shame on those who don’t. Everyone can take the time to rinse a tincan, or flatten cardboard. Better yet, don’t buy stuff that has packaging if it is such a nuisance for one to recycle. Sorry to rant, I have seen some pretty lazy folks just throw recyclables in the garbage!!! And they are parents!!! What a good way to start contributing to the childrens world!!

Kudos to all those great parents who teach their kids how to care for our world!!!

    3) Don’t accept plastic/paper bags in stores…only use cloth reusable grocery bags. They are easy just to stick in the car or purse for shopping trips. They are also very durable and carry a lot without breaking. No more asking for double bags, just take a proper cloth bag when shopping.

    4) Be aware of how your personal choices affect the world….there is no time like the present to act positively for the planet. Take the bus or ride your bike…get out there and enjoy the world….stop buying useless posessions to make you happy.

To all the sensible folks…sorry to rant.
